“Fantastic Stay”
Stayed for a week in a 2 bed bed apartment within the Oakham building. The apartment was very clean and spacious with views towards Rutland Water. The grounds are fantastic with so much to do. Crazy Golf, Boules, Pitch & Putt, Childrens Playground to name a few of what we used but there is so much more. There is also a fantastic swimming pool with jacuzzis, steam room and sauna. There is plenty to do whatever the weather.
We visitied Barnsdale country club the week before the royal wedding. The weather was fantastic. The grounds at Barnsdale were blooming and beautifully kept. We stayed in the stables in a spacious unit. The restaurant served good food. Our son used the exercise room which closes early.
“Fantastic Place”
"We booked our stay as part of timeshare but this place is also a hotel. It has a main old building with new wings on either side. Also in the grounds are wooden lodges which I would imagine are usually time share or rentals. We stayed on the top floor of the main buidling, in fact it was a suite with loads of space and full cooking facilities. Because of this we only ate once in the hotel restaurant. It had a fairly wide choice of food, either in the bar where it was cheaper or in main restaurant. Weddings seem to be a regular occurrence here but there are separate facilities for these so apart from providing guests at the hotel the wedding was not in the main area . There is a full leisure facility of pool, sauna, steam room etc. The resort was situated on Rutland water where you could either cycle or walk completely round ( 23 miles) or just do part of it. The nearest lovely old village was Oakham, closely followed by Stamford and then Melton Mowbray (of pork pie fame)"

“Good young family choice and great pool and spa!”
Myself and my 3 children - ages 2, 7 and 9 stayed for a week in the Stable Mews apartment No 11 upstairs for a week self catering and the apartment was really nice and very roomy for 4 people. There were 2 x digital LCD TVs in the bedroom & lounge. A wonderful jet spa round bathtub and heated towel rail in the bathroom and a compact but full kitchen with everything you could need - Microwave, fridge, washer and dryer, electric cooker and kettle. We made full use of the hotel facilities and went in the large pool every night, tried crazy golf and the jacuzzi tubs. Lots of free fitness classes available in the main hotel.
My utility bill for the whole week was only £8 for 4 of us and I used the cooker and the spa bathtub every night. The hotel has wonderful views and we walked 2 miles everyday to Whitwell along a wonderful path with lots of wild bunnies hopping along and sheep grazing. A really lovely vacation especially if you like some nice country walks...
